Our heritage and our future are found in the rich soil of our radish farms.

We understand that the choices we make have a ripple effect that can help or hurt not just our immediate environment, but also the entire planet. As a trusted farmer of quality produce, we focus on the following areas in order to achieve our sustainability goals. We strive for the conservation of energy by concentrating on markets close to our fields and then optimizing the transportation and storage processes when bringing our produce to markets that are unable to purchase seasonal produce. We advocate for policies that protect air and water quality and minimize energy consumption.

Freshest Flavor From Nhytemp Technology

EXCLUSIVE NHYTEMP TECHNOLOGY PROVIDES YEAR-AROUND FRESH PRODUCE.

Our customers enjoy year-around fresh radishes and produce, thanks to our Midwest and Southwest farms in combination with our unique Nhytemp® processing technology that locks in the farm fresh flavor and texture. This exclusive technology is why our For You produce is as fresh as fresh can be, any time of the year.

Our Nhytemp technology works by quickly chilling vegetables to the correct storage temperature in the transport container immediately after harvest, often right in the field. This hydrocooling quickly chills vegetation by cascading cold water over the crop, preventing heat transfer. Nhytemp:

• Extends shelf life by cooling vegetables and fruits quickly
• Cools crops up to 15 times faster than air
• Hydrates some products, reduces moisture loss
• Rinses while it cools
• Offer a flexible means of cooling vegetables and fruits packed in bins, bulk, or palletized.

We are the only radish grower/shipper in the world to use the Nhytemp® system. After harvest, radishes are “put to sleep” in the trailers where temperatures are kept cold and oxygen sealed out. This allows us to produce a consistent, quality supply of radishes throughout the year.

MIEDEMA KEEPS YOUR FAMILY SAFE.

Our family-owned organization puts your family’s safety on the top shelf. For us, food safety begins first and foremost by knowing the soil. Virtually all of our farmlands have been under the watchful eye of the Miedema family for generations. We grow only produce; there has been no animal husbandry or non-agricultural activities on our farms. We closely monitor our water usage, irrigation techniques both in and around our farm. We firmly believe that sound farm management is at the core of food safety and sustainability.

We place a high priority on refining the Miedema way: a system for harvesting, handling, washing, trimming and packing produce. This system exceeds both the expectation of our customers as well as the standards set forth by Good Agriculture Practices (GAP), protocols established to ensure a consistence production across all types of farming, large and small, throughout the US.

We are working closely with technology leaders to ensure accountability and traceability from field to produce counter. We contract with an independent third party organization to certify that – for our own quality assurance and that of our customers – our quality programs are properly implemented and functioning.

Miedema Produce is grateful to be a supporter of the West Michigan branch of Feeding America. Founded in 1979, Feeding America is a network of more than 200 food banks and food rescue organizations. The West Michigan branch serves approximately 100,000 families in 40 Michigan counties, from Berrien County in southwest Michigan to the northernmost areas of the Upper Peninsula.

We are blessed to have these opportunities to help our community. By donating a portion of our produce, we’re able to help feed hungry families, while at the same time making West Michigan a healthier, happier place.

Feeding America is truly a remarkable organization. Last year, the West Michigan branch alone saved almost 29 million pounds of high-quality food from going to waste and redirected that food to families in need.
